The Victoria Cross is the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy, awarded to those having shown extraordinary bravery, often at the cost of their own lives. Two coins were struck to mark the occassion, this one for the award and another depicting the acts of persons awarded with the Victoria Cross.
