Elizabeth and the Lion Full Sovereign issued to commemorate the 95th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The concept for Elizabeth and the Lion was greatly inspired by the captivating story and history of Una and the Lion - originally struck as a five sovereign piece to mark the reign of Queen Victoria in 1837. The inscription featured, is also inspired by William Wyon's Una and the Lion.

Designed by Raphael Maklouf./ Crowned Queen Elizabeth II effigy based on a photograph from her coronation in 1953, poised next to her protector and companion - the Lion. Inscription reads "DIRIGIT DEUS GRESSUS MEOS". Edge milled.
