Issued to mark the London Olympics in 2012, and is the first silver five-ounce coin issued by the Royal Mint.
The Pegasus design on the reverse is a celebration of the Games by Royal Academy President Christopher Le Brun. A mythological creature, Pegasus has been chosen as a symbol of the Olympic spirit and representing the Olympic motto "Faster, Higher, Stronger".
Fourth crowned portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara; IRB below; legend around " ELIZABETH · II · D · G · REG F · D · TEN POUNDS ·" Design by Ian Rank-Broadley. / Mythical winged horse Pegasus in flight at centre; inscription "LONDON OLYMPIC GAMES" around ; date of issue "2012" below.
