Iraq Government of Iraq 1/2 Dinar 1.7.1931 Pick 2a PMG Very Fine 30. A gorgeous example which shares the second finest grade of only 14 total notes in the PMG Population Report. The first series of Iraqi Government notes, featuring the portrait of King Faisal I, are very rare and seldom seen today. Although dated 1931, these notes were not issued until spring of 1932. A new date and signature variety arrived in the fall/winter of 1932. Additionally, King Faisal I died of a heart attack in September of 1933, which prompted change to the banknotes. This 1/2 Dinar is the second denomination in the first series. Only a few examples have been auctioned in the past decade. A repair is mentioned by third party grading company and the overall presentation is excellent for this type.
