Lebanon Banque de Syrie et du Liban 50 Livres 1.9.1939 Pick UNL PMG Choice Very Fine 35. Lebanese and Syrian issues printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Company were overprinted with various shapes to help identify batches of notes in case they were stolen or lost during transport during World War II. This variety, featuring a Chevron overprint, was reportedly stolen before introduction and it seems the majority of notes safely delivered were ultimately unissued. Minor restoration has been applied to this handsome and rare variety.
