Parthia(?), 'Eagle Series' AR Drachm. Hekatompylos(?), circa 246/5-239/8 BC. Local standard. Head of Athena to right, wearing earring, necklace, and crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves over visor and a spiral palmette on the bowl / Eagle standing to left, head to right; above, Aramaic letters 'shin' and uncertain (waw?) above grape cluster on vine with leaf above. Unpublished; for similar, cf. Bopearachchi, Sophytes Series 2A, Mitchiner 26, and HGC 12, 8. 2.62g, 15mm, 6h.

Very Fine; some cleaning marks and areas of delamination. An apparently unique and unpublished variant.

From the Professor Shir Mohammad Collection.

The presence of the Aramaic letters above the control mark on this reverse are remarkable for all the other known 'Eagle Series' issues are anepigraphic.
