Greek Italy. Samnium, Southern Latium and Northern Campania, Aquinum. AE 19 mm. c. 265-240 BC. Obv. Head of Minerva in Corinthian helmet left. Rev. Cock standing left; to left, AQVINO; to right, star. HN Italy 432; SNG ANS 113; HGC 1 219. AE. 3.90 g. 19.00 mm. RR. Very rare. Green-brown patina. VF/About VF. The city of Aquinum was founded by the Volsci, but little is known of its history. This city struck a single emission of bronze denomination in the mid 3rd century, probably in conjunction with neighboring Caiatia, Cales, Suessa and Teanum Sidicinum.
