51.2 mm; 64.8 gms. Inauguration of the Arequipa to Puno section of the line. More finely produced and much RARER than the set of medals for the same event we are also offering in this sale. Female figure riding an eagle above a valley with a steam train passing through; Reverse: Twenty-three line inscription noting the presence of the Peruvian president and other notables at the dedication ceremony. The obverse of this medal has a dark grey finish, with deep underlying reflectivity and hints of golden orange and crimson, especially in upper half of the design. The reverse is a lighter shade of gray, with deep reflectivity overall and abundant gold, indigo and magenta toning.ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
