PERU. Gold Huari to Jauja Railroad Inauguration Medal, 1908. PCGS Genuine--Filed Rims, Unc Details Secure Holder.

30 mm; 16.24 gms. Specific gravity 17.276, which corresponds to .900 gold. Steam railroad engine left, "INAUGURACION DEL FERRO-CARRIL/ DE HUARI A JAUJA" above, and "28 DE JULIO/ DE 1908" below; Reverse: Twelve line inscription noting government and railway officials present at the inauguration, including Peruvian President Jose Pardo. A RARE medal in any composition, particularly so in gold. Overall coppery gold finish with patchy crimson and fuchsia toning. Reportedly only two known.
