FRANCE. Order of the Holy Spirit, Silver Breast Star, Established 1578, Discontinued 1830.
Barac-489; Vernon-3; Werlich-395. Maltese Cross, each of the eight points ball tipped. A fleur-de-lis between each pair of arms, and a dove with head pointed down and superimposed on a central medallion, the eyes of the dove are red jewels; Reverse: An incuse impression of the obverse, except that a broad tunic clasp is attached just above the central medallion. The ball at the tip of the cross at 11 o'clock bears evidence of an ancient repair. The order has a maximum point-to-point diameter of 113 mm. An important and historic order.EXTREMELY FINE.
