Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ Sestertius (31mm, 22.90 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 134-138. Laureate and draped bust right / ADVENTVI AVG AFRICAE, S C in exergue, Hadrian standing right, raising his right hand, facing Africa standing left, wearing elephant skin headdress and holding patera and grain ears; tripod altar between; bull on ground behind altar. RIC II.3 1717 var. (altar); Banti 6 var. (same); Strack 739-40 var. (same); BMCRE 1629. Brown surfaces with some green deposits, smoothed. Near VF. Very rare variety.
