KINGS of THRACE, Macedonian. Lysimachos. 305-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm (28.5mm, 16.78 g, 12h). Uncertain mint (Magnesia?). Early 3rd century BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, transverse spear in background; monogram-in-circle to inner left, monogram in exergue. Thompson –; Müller –; cf. HGC 3, 1750 (for type); CNG E-491, lot 17 (same dies); Coin Galleries (9 Nov. 1982), lot 515 (same rev. die); Feuardent (17 Dec. 1919 [Collignon]), lot 174 (same rev. die). Lightly toned, light marks, scratches on reverse. Good VF. Rare.

The symbol in the exergue on this issue is present on an issue of Alexander type in the name of Lysimachos (Thompson 96) struck at Magnesia, and an example in the ANS photofile is also marked as being from Magnesia. However, no examples have been definitively die linked to any of the known issues from that city.
