MACEDON (Roman Protectorate), Republican period. First Meris. Circa 167-149 BC. Fourrée Tetradrachm (32.5mm, 16.90 g, 9h). Copying Amphipolis mint issue. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, with bow and quiver over shoulder, in the center of a Macedonian shield; shield decorated with seven six-pointed stars within double crescents / Club; AP monogram and MAKEΔONΩN above, ΠPΩTHΣ below; all within oak wreath, thunderbolt to left. For prototype: cf. Prokopov, Silver, Period I.B; cf. HGC 3, 1103. Break in plating on obverse, exposing core. VF.
