Gordian III (AD 238-244). AV aureus (21mm, 4.89 gm, 12h). NGC MS 5/5 - 3/5. Rome, AD 243-244. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right, seen from behind / SECVR-IT PERP, Securitas, draped, standing facing, head left, legs crossed, grounded scepter in right hand, leaning with left arm on short column. RIC IV.III 164 corr. (SECVRITAS). Calicó 3232 (same dies). Solidly struck and nicely centered on lustrous flan with areas of toning.
