La Rioja. Provincial gold 8 Escudos 1838-R AU58 NGC, La Rioja mint, KM9, Chaves-762, Onza-1572 (Rare), Janson-48.1. Variety without bayonet in arms. Highly detailed and exhibiting only an absolute minimum of wear, this near-Mint State example of this popular and large gold denomination presents a quality that remains rarely encountered for the type. A uniform harvest-gold color emanates from both faces, while thin hairlines blanketing the fields are noted for accuracy. Exceeded by only two MS61 examples of 10 certified by NGC to date, and by all measures a fleeting opportunity.
