Ferdinand I gold "Francis I Monument" Medal of 25 Ducats 1846 MS61 NGC, cf. Horsky-3650 (listed in silver), Montenuovo-2621 (same), Julius-3240 (same), Hauser-114 (same), Frühwald-Unl. 49mm. 86.92gm. By K. Lange. A very rare gold medal commemorating the construction of the Francis I monument, located in the central courtyard of the Hofburg Palace and dedicated to Austrian Emperor Francis I (reigned 1804-1835) who also ruled as Holy Roman Emperor (1792-1806). Produced to a high relief and attractively engraved, with potent mirror reflectivity residing in the fields. To date the only example certified by NGC, and seemingly worthy of a Prooflike or Specimen designation.
