Republic gold 8 Escudos 1832 So-I MS62 PCGS, Santiago mint, KM84, Chaves-871, Onza-1625. An exceptional certification in all respects for this beloved, imagery-laden Chilean type, presently exceeded in the certified population by only a single MS63+ at NGC; the Eliasberg specimen (MS64) seemingly omitted. Just a bit weakly struck over the sunface with a small lamination on the right flag, the piece positively shimmers with brilliant luster, projecting a sun-gold aura over the whole of the planchet. For the sake of comparison, we would note that the Paramount example we offered last March, also an MS62, brought $15,600.
