Republic gold Essai 100 Francs 1929 MS64 NGC, Paris mint, KM-E53, Maz-2536 (R4), Gad-1140. By H. Dropsy. A very scarce Essai in gold, struck in a finish that borders on Proof presentation. Careful inspection indicates that even the highly respectable assigned grade may be conservative, with only two isolated and very minute points of contact noted to the reverse, while the appearance overall is superb and nearly pristine. Die polish lines, arranged in fine rows, decorate the fields, and a delicate frosting to the devices yields a subtle yet noteworthy degree of visual contrast.
