Edward VI (1547-1553) Crown 1552 AU50 NGC, Tower mint, Tun mm, Fine Silver issue, S-2478, Dav-8245. 30.35gm. A specimen of excellent quality for this popular Tudor Crown type, depicting the young Edward VI armored and on horseback. While most survivors exhibit extensive wear that leaves much of the designs reduced to a fraction of their original detail, this piece stands out by its sharply contoured features, which still display significant detail within the horse blanket, the legends, and the reverse shield, with any remaining softness due primarily to the uneven nature of the day's coinage production. Toned to a pleasing steely blue against unmistakable underlying luster, and a visually sharp specimen that should see considerable interest.
