James I gold Laurel ND (1623-1624) MS62 NGC, Tower mint, Lis mm, Third coinage, KM75, S-2638C, N-2114, Schneider-86. 8.98gm. (lis) IACOBVS D: G: MAG: BRI: FRA: ET HIB: REX •, fourth laureate bust of James I left, XX (denomination) behind / FACIA | M EOS IN | GENTEM | VNVM (lis), crowned royal shield with long cross dividing the flan into four quadrants. Very high quality for the series, with reportedly just three MS63's ranking a point finer at NGC, and a piece in seriously high demand as such. Minorly doubled towards the margins, James' bust and the Stuart arms retain a great clarity and sharpness on the whole, creating a piece that will surely inspire fierce competition as it crosses the auction block.
