Awadh. Wajid Ali Shah gold Ashrafi (Mohur) AH 1264 Year 2 (1848/1849) MS67 NGC, Lucknow mint, KM378.2. Struck from Ashrafi dies. A gorgeously well-preserved specimen of this type struck from specially prepared dies that appears essentially immaculate, with only two others having achieved this level of certification at NGC. Besting both the Lissner and Lawrence Adams specimens (both MS66), both naked-eye inspection and magnification reveal micro-granular luster that coats every inch of the surfaces. Both dies have moreover been carefully centered, rendering a nearly full outer border.
