Republic gold 8 Escudos 1865 C-CE MS64 NGC, Culiacan mint, KM383.2, Onza-1842, Long-pg. 352. A sparkling Mint State survivor that ranks as unconditionally superior to the vast majority of known examples, most of which are circulated and often display impairments of various sorts. The surfaces are a pure sun-gold and yield a distinctive shimmer when rotated in hand, illuminating well-kept features that reveal only fine, wispy friction to cap the assigned grade designation. Only a single example certifies numerically finer at NGC to date.
