Russia
Peter III Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1762 CПБ-HК MS62 PCGS, St. Petersburg mint, KM-C46.2, Bit-13 (R). An extraordinary conditional outlier from Peter III's tumultuous sixth-month reign, one almost never seen outside of details designations, let alone near Choice Mint State and tied with two others among certified examples. Bearing the typical, crudely rendered portrait of the German-born emperor upon a steely canvas, with a reverse that is fully embossed, showing an intricately engraved crowned double-eagle that instantly identifies the Russian series from this era. Wholly reflective and lightly Prooflike in nature, this issue remains bereft of any instances of handling that could be considered distracting by even the most seasoned and conditionally discriminating collector. The assigned designation, likely capped by minute wisps that almost always accompany the issue, do little to detract from the overall appeal of this offering. Certain to engage the attention of advanced collectors looking to acquire the finest certified example of this covetable type.
