Republic silver Essai 100 Centesimos 1869 MS62 NGC, KM-E3, Guttag-4685A, Almanzar/Seppa-URP112. Arms on obverse type. With "ESSAI" toward lower reverse edge. A rare Essai type that seemingly has not been seen at auction for more than a decade, further impressive for its position within NGC's census as one of only three examples certified to date. Of these, the present offering remains the finest. Lightly handled for the grade, with no singularly significant distractions noted, and a pleasing gunmetal patina that overlies sparkling, watery reflectivity. Sharply struck, and a true prize for the collector of South American rarities.
