MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (18mm, 8.50 gm, 12h). NGC XF 5/5 - 5/5. Late lifetime-early posthumous issue of Cyprus, Citium, ca. 325-320 BC. Head of Athena right, hair in three thick corkscrew curls, wearing triple-crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, long parallel crest ends, bowl decorated with griffin leaping right / ΑΛΕΞΑΝ-ΔΡOΥ, Nike standing facing, head left, outstretched right hand, stylis cradled in left arm; KT (city ethnic) monogram in right field, club downward in right field below wing. Price 3102 var. (monogram and club reversed).
Note: Extremely unusual reverse composition with Nike extending an open right hand instead of holding a wreath.
