Menelik II bronze Matte Proof Uniface Obverse Pattern Birr EE 1890 (1898) PR63 NGC, Paris mint, KM-Unl., Gill-M6. An appealing and highly intriguing bronze Pattern for an 1890-dated Birr that would never see formal production. Not illustrated by Gill, we have been able to locate only a single other example in recent auction records, a NGC PR64 Brown, which hammered for 1600 CHF last May. Graced with a singular cobalt and rosaceous patina, we fully expect this specimen to garner strong interest.
