Haile Selassie I gold "Coronation" Medal EE 1923 (1930) UNC Details (Mount Removed, Obverse Repaired) NGC, Addis Ababa mint, Gill-S9. 40mm. 37.19gm. Imposing and highly intricate, this Vienna-designed coronation piece features Haile Selassie's elaborately-detailed bust with the translated legend "The First Haile Selassie" surrounding while the reverse displays an aesthetically pleasing monogram with the star of the trinity within a trilobe and an encircling legend that reads "Ethiopia shall stretch forth her hands to God." Clear evidence of die clashing can be seen behind the Emperor's head, adding a singular appeal.
