Henry V gold Noble ND (1413-1422) AU Details (Edge Filing) NGC, Tower mint, Pierced Cross mm, Type G, S-1747, N-1375 (ER), cf. Schneider-269-270 (same obverse die). 6.64gm. h | ЄnRIC' (mullet) DI' • GRΛ' • RЄX • ΛnGL' • Ƶ (retrograde) • FRΛnC' • DnS hyB' (annulet stops), crowned, armored figure of Henry standing facing in ship, sword in right hand, shield in left / (pierced cross) Ih'C (mullet) ΛVTЄm • TRΛnSIЄnS • PЄR • mЄDIV' • ILLORV' • IBΛT (annulet stops), large floriate cross with h at center, crowned lions in angles, all within polylobe with trefoils in spandrels. A more attainable example of this rarest and final Noble of Henry V, proving unmistakably challenging to locate in any condition. In addition to its pronounced apostrophes, this piece shows a distinctive die break over the apostrophe and mullet following the king's name, creating a hybrid symbol diagnosable on the obverse dies recycled during the Annulet issue of Henry VI. For the sake of accuracy, we note a thin planchet crack around 9 o'clock.
