Mughal Empire. Shah Jahan gold Mohur AH 1057 Year 21 (1647/1648) MS63 NGC, Akbarabad mint, KM258.1, cf. Wright-841 (different regnal year), Whitehead-Unl., cf. Hull-1557 (different date), Liddle Type G-41. 10.87gm. A stunningly beautiful example of the type that exceeds many more highly graded specimens in terms of its absolute visual appeal. Clean and lustrous throughout with an essentially perfectly centered strike, perhaps the only imperfection one can discover is a tiny contact mark around 9 o'clock on the obverse. Quite simply, a coin which begs for in-hand inspection, and an offering worthy of the connoisseur.
