Florence. Republic gold Florin ND (1526-1527) MS61 NGC, Fr-276, MIR-30/46 (R2). 3.52gm. Francesco de Roberto Martelli as mintmaster. A scarce and relatively late Florentine Florin, featuring a definitive strike with trace amounts of grade-aligning chatter in the fields. Only the second example of this issue we have offered, the last, an MS63, brought $4920 in our April 2020 Central States sale. We note that while Monete Italiane Regionali provide a date for this mark of 1526-1527 on Table XL, within the text the date they provide is 1524-1525.
