Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1814 M-GJ AU53 NGC, Madrid mint, KM485, Cal-1769, Onza-1233. A surprisingly scarce issue of Ferdinand VII and the first year of production of 8 Escudos from his reign in Madrid, seemingly the result of the Peninsular War in which Napoleon's forces had occupied the city for a deal of time. With so few survivors of this vintage, NGC noting only five pieces total in their census, coupled with prominent mint brilliance relegated to the peripheries with only mild surface friction establishing the grade, we expect an elevated bidder interest when crossing the auction block.
