WORLD CROWNS & MINORS
GREAT BRITAIN. Bronze Accession of King George lll Medal, ND (1760, 1780, 1800). NGC MEDAL VF Details-- Mount Removed.
72.7 mm. BHM-2; Eimer-923.By J. Colibert. Laureate, armored and draped bust of George III right, name and titles around; Reverse: Sunface in splendor, legend "DIFFUSO LUMINE NITET". A RARE and enigmatic medal of uncertain issue. Attributed by Brown in BHM as an Accession Medal (1760) but noted as bearing a bust more typical for a 1780 issue. Eimer lists it as being issued for an uncertain occasion, the reverse perhaps referring to Britain at the beginning of a new century, placing in his listing with the other 1800 issues. Both catalogers note the rarity of the medal, Brown ascribing a RRR rating and Eimer valuing it at 600 Pounds in VERY FINE. Pleasing dark chocolate patina with numerous small tics and abrasions, perhaps a result of being worn. there is some evidence of the removal of a loop or suspension device at the top. Still attractive and impressive.NGC MEDAL VF Details--Mount Removed.
