CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. Russo-Chinese Bank. 1 Dollar, 1907-14. P-S546. PMG Very Good 10.
(S/M#O5). Tientsin. Printed by NAL. No. B017829. The front text is in English, whilst the back is in Russian. This branch/denomination are incredibly difficult to locate notes from. This is the sole example graded by PMG, and the first we can recall handling. The date is found on the reverse in purple ink, and reads "Tientsin, 1./14 Septembre 190x" (we cannot discern the last number of the year). These notes were issued until 1914, when the Russian Empire was pulled into the First World War. For those Chinese & Russian paper collectors seeking the rarest of the rare, this note is surely missing from even the most advanced collection, and will surely be hotly contested once the bidding begins.
The primary design on the obverse and reverse is found in a dark red ink, with "1" counters in each corner and the place of issue in the bottom margin design. The underprint on both the obverse and reverse is in a dark blue-green ink, with "ONE" on the front and "ОДИНЬ" on the back. Black Chinese character stamps are seen on both sides of the note. PMG Pop 1/No Others Graded.
Estimate: $5000 - $10000
