(t) CHINA--PROVINCIAL BANKS. Kwangtung Currency Bureau. 5 Dollars, 1905. P-Unlisted. PCGS Banknote About Uncirculated 53 OPQ.
(S/M#K51-10b) Printed by JIPB. An incredibly rare denomination, which is the first & finest we have handled in our long history. Contemporary "Dragon Dollar" coins are at left and right, while a building is seen at bottom center. Facing dragons are at top center below the border design with the pearl of wisdom above. The underprint on the obverse is found in a lovely dark gold color, which helps accentuate the jet black design details of the border and primary vignettes. The design on the reverse is printed in a dark orange color which showcases intricate lathe work of the designs at left and right. While we do not have a population report for PCGS Banknote Grading, we can imagine this beautiful About Uncirculated example is among the finest known for this elusive denomination. The grading service's OPQ designation has also been applied signifying this piece retains fully original paper. This denomination is surely missing from even the most advanced collections of Chinese paper money. Worthy of a premium bid.

Estimate: $90000 - $150000
