(t) CHINA. Kweichow. "Bamboo" Dollar, Year 38 (1949). NGC EF-40.
L&M-612; K-758; KM-Y-433; WS-1112. Variety with round window. A capstone and crown jewel of any provincial or classical Chinese collection in general, this wholesome, lightly handled RARITY presents a gunmetal gray tone with well executed detail remaining and no issues affecting its appearance. The obverse displays a detailed Chinese pavilion and, paralleling the hidden iconography of its predecessor, the ever-popular "Auto" Dollar, this piece displays a small character "Gu" in the doorway, thus serving as a reference to then-governor Gu Zhenglun. Meanwhile, "T L K" appears just below it in block lettering, blending in well with the foundation of the pavilion and likely serving as a nod to the coin's engraver. Assuredly, of immense interest and one which will generate tremendous enthusiasm along with spirited bidding.

Estimate: $200000 - $400000
