CHINA. Taiwan. 7.2 Candareens (10 Cents), ND (1890-92). Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). NGC VF-25.
L&M-327; K-136; Y-247.2; WS-1008. This VERY SCARCE issue offers a chance at a lot that is very uncommonly encountered, with the last example sold by us back in 2018. Though circulated, this example remains problem free, with attractive color and no total effacement of details, despite some rim weakness. Given how dramatically popular Chinese minors have become recently, we have high expectations for this piece given how uncommon it is to find.
This coin represents one of the final issues from Taiwan before it was ceded to and occupied by Japan in 1895. Japan occupied Taiwan after the First Sino-Japanese War and occupied the Island until they were forced to give up all foreign colonies after their final defeat in World War II in 1945.
Estimate: $700 - $1000
