CHINA. Qing Dynasty. 500 Cash, ND (ca. March-August 1854). Board of Revenue Mint, Western branch. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). VERY FINE.
Hartill-22.712. Weight: 59.86 gms. Fou Bao, seven stroke Bei variety. Obverse: "Xian Feng Yuan Bao"; Reverse: "Dang Wu Bai". This charming large size cash issue displays a pleasing chocolate brown patina with minor earthen deposits amongst the devices offering much originality. Much of the naturally rough surface texture remains in the protected areas, but does show evidence of wear in the open fields. Close inspection reveals a few small scratches in the lower left obverse fields, but is hardly a distraction for the large denomination. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of this every popular ruler.

Estimate: $1500 - $2000
