(t) CHINA. Qing Dynasty. 50 Cash, ND (ca. November 1853-March 1854). Board of Works Mint, Old Branch. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). Graded "85" by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.
Hartill-22.759; FD-2444. Weight: 61.0 gms. Seven stroke Bei variety. Obverse: "Xian Feng Zhong Bao"; Reverse: "Dang Wu Shi". This handsome large format cash issue exhibits bold, crisp characters that's complemented by the light brassy patina. Richer coloration and minor earthen deposits amongst the devices adding to its pleasing appearance. Close inspection reveals evidence the fields have been smoothed on both sides, as is commonly encountered on these large size cast pieces.
