CHINA. Qing Dynasty. Jiangsu. 100 Cash, ND (ca. 1854-55). Suzhou or other local Mints. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). VERY FINE Details.
Hartill-22.917. Weight: 58.00 gms. Medium Bao variety. Obverse: "Xian Feng Yuan Boa"; Reverse: "Dang Bai". This decently preserved example displays rich mottled brassy patina with minor earthen deposits amongst the devices. The obverse exhibits much of the original naturally rough surface texture with remnants of the file marks on the rims from the finishing process. Close inspection of the reverse reveals much smoothing in the fields and around the characters and numerous edge bumps are mentioned for accuracy. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of the type sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
Estimate: $400 - $600
