Obverse: CHINA RELIEF EXPEDITION / 1900, view of the Yongdingmen (Gate of Perpetual Peace); in foreground, dragon left; Reverse: UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS, eagle, with wings spread, standing left upon anchor; FOR / SERVICE in two lines below. Edge: 281 (engraved). Loop and ring attached at the top. Ribbon: Yellow, with thin dark blue vertical band to middle left and right. Olive-brown surfaces. Quite RARE and interesting, this medal pertains to efforts during the Boxer Rebellion. According the official records, this medal (number 281) was awarded on 22 October 1909 to Private Charles J.
