JAPAN. Yen, Year 8 (1875). Osaka Mint. Mutsuhito (Meiji). PCGS MS-63.
KM-Y-A25.2; JNDA-01-10; JC-09-10-1. Deep veins variety. The RAREST date in the Meiji Yen series, this immensely attractive and enticing specimen radiates with tremendous mint luster and glistening brilliance. The devices are accentuated by some golden toning, while the remainder of the surfaces remain blazingly blast white and argent. The highest graded in the PCGS census--with the next finest merely attaining the grade of MS-61--this alluring example is tied with just one other crown seen at NGC, with the next finest that they have seen also grading MS-61. The aforementioned equivalent example--the NGC MS-63--sold in September 2011 for a total of $207,000. Accordingly, given the growth in popularity of this series and the dearth of other specimens to rival it, it is difficult to imagine to stunning heights to which it could soar. An astounding opportunity for the advanced specialist to acquire a KEY DATE in a shimmering, wholesomely choice state of preservation.
Estimate: $80000 - $120000
