JAPAN. Copper 2 Rin Pattern, Year 18 (1885). Osaka Mint. Mutsuhito (Meiji). NGC MS-63 Brown.
KM-Pn27; JNDA-Unlisted; JC-Unlisted; Jacobs/Vermeule-Z1; Bank of Japan Collection-165. This RARE pattern appears to be the only example in Japanese numismatics to be denominated as 2 Rin. With only one other example graded, a PCGS SPECIMEN-62, this piece presents the opportunity to acquire one of the most challenging issues in the entire Japanese series. The surfaces are nearly uniformly brown, with lovely strike quality from the always-proficient Osaka Mint. A lot that is destined to be fought over, with spirited bidding and much jockeying to be the winning bid until the very close of the lot.
Ex: Dr. Norman Jacobs Collection.
Estimate: $10000 - $15000
