PHILIPPINES. Municipal Government Civil Merit Silver Medal, 1895. CHOICE UNCIRCULATED.
Honeycutt-38; Basso-Unlisted. Dimensions: 47mm x 40mm; Weight: 26.36 gms. Obverse: Coat-of-arms of Manila: Crowned castle above sea lion left; all within lozenge border with legend: CIUDAD / DE MANILA / AYUNTAto DE / LA M.N.Y S.L; wreath around; crown at top; Reverse: MERITISIMUS (of the highest merit) below radiant star and above date (1895). Edge: Plain, with loop attached at the top. Most attractively toned, with a light amber-gray hue and strong tinges of iridescence throughout, this interesting medal is rather RARE when encountered in silver and should undoubtedly generate a great deal of enthusiasm.
