Obverse: PHILIPPINE CAMPAIGN / 1899-1903, view of the Puerta del Parian; Reverse: UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS, eagle, with wings spread, standing left upon anchor; FOR / SERVICE in two lines below. Edge: 717 (engraved). Loop and ring attached at the top. Ribbon: Medium yellow vertical band, with medium red vertical band to outer left and right. Olive-brown surfaces. An interesting and RARE award following American involvement in the Philippines. According the official records, this medal (number 717) was awarded on 22 October 1909 to Private Charles J. King.
