IONIA, Ephesus. AR denarius (2,59 g). Countermark applied at Ephesus circa AD 74-79 during the reign of Vespasian. (IMP)・(VE)S in rectangular countermark on a denarius of Vespasian, Ephesus AD 70-71 (RIC II 1428; RPC II 830; RSC 67). Countermark graded very fine/extremely fine. Bright and porous surfaces and slightly wavy flan. Extremely rare with a Vespasian countermark on a denarius of Vespasian. cf. Howgego 839 var., cf.
