(IMP)・(VE)S in rectangular countermark on a denarius of Vespasian, Ephesus late AD 73 (cf. RIC II 1457; cf. RPC II 853). Countermark graded fine/very fine. Minor porosity on reverse. Attractively toned. A rare variant from the Ephesus mint and extremely rare with a Vespasian countermark on a denarius of Vespasian.
