SICILY, Syracuse. Deinomenid tyranny, 485-466 BC. AR tetradrachm (17,03 g). Struck under Hieron I, circa 475-470 BC. Dies by the Demareteion Master. Charioteer driving a slow quadriga right, holding reins and goad; Nike flying right above, crowning horses; lion springing to right in exergue / ΣV-RAK-OΣI-ON, Head of Arethusa right within linear circle, wearing olive wreath, earring and necklace; hair tied at the back with a ribbon; four dolphins swimming clockwise around.
