Julia Domna. Augusta, AD 193-217. Æ silvered medallion (41 mm, 68,26 g). Rome mint, AD 198. IVLIA AVGVSTA, Draped bust right, hair waved and bound at back of head in large chignon / CERES, Ceres, draped and veiled, standing left, holding grain ears over garlanded altar and long torch. Gentle smoothing of a few corrosion spots on reverse, otherwise, unusually well-preserved surfaces for a roman bronze medallion. Dark brown-green patina with some remaining silvering on reverse. An extremely rare and interesting medallion made from highly artistic dies.
