USA (Dahlonega mint), gold $5 coronet Liberty half eagle, 1841-D, tall D variety, rare, NGC AU details / harshly cleaned. Of the 29,392 mintage for the 1841-D $5, a total of 4,105 coins were struck with the "tall D" mintmark early on in 1841. With far fewer surviving to this day, this significantly rarer variety appears infrequently on the market. Decent details seen on this low AU piece with hairlines from prior cleaning, red-gold toning around the rims and stars. NGC #6447286-001.
