Brunk-S1021; Rulau-NY1027S. 6.78 grams; 28 mm. Between 1853 and 1854, silversmiths Seymour H. Stone and Calvin S. Ball countermarked US coins as well as Spanish colonial silver and English halfpennies with their business name, Stone & Ball. About VF host coin with bold XF countermark, light edge shave at 4 o'clock, dark gray silver toned throughout. Pedigreed to the Van Ormer Collection and subsequent Bowers and Merena sale of September 1985, lot 2859, and to the Donald G. Partrick Collection, with his tag.
